For the past 17 months, the **Chris Knight Writes** Facebook and Instagram pages have been a place to share daily devotionals, real-life stories, practical encouragement and humor that helps faith feel a little more relatable.

Your response has been far greater than I ever expected.

I have been completely humbled by the messages, comments and stories people have shared with me. Knowing that something I wrote connected with you, encouraged you, made you laugh or helped you take another step in your faith has meant more than I can adequately express.

Today, I am excited to introduce you to the next step in this journey:

## Why create a website?

I am glad you asked. Even if you did not ask, I have already written the answer, so here we go.

### **1\. I am tired of fighting the Facebook algorithm.**

Very tired.

Social media platforms are useful, but they decide what you see, when you see it and whether you see it at all. I can spend hours writing something, post it for a thousand followers and then watch Facebook quietly show it to seventeen people and someone’s aunt from Nebraska. Okay, this is an exaggeration, minus someone's aunt from Nebraska.

A website gives **Chris Knight Writes** a permanent home. You will always know where to find the newest posts, previous writings and other resources.

### **2\. I now own the content and the platform where it is published.**

Facebook and Instagram are borrowed spaces. They can change their rules, adjust their algorithms, limit reach or disappear altogether.

**ChrisKnightWrites.com** gives me a place where I can build, organize and grow without depending entirely on another company’s platform. Social media will still be part of how I share content, but it will no longer be the only place that content lives.

### **3\. Instagram keeps telling me I talk too much.**

Instagram limits posts to roughly 2,200 characters.

Several times recently, I had a few additional thoughts I wanted to include. Facebook would publish the entire post, but Instagram would not allow it.

UGH.

I do not always need more space, but sometimes an idea needs another paragraph, another story or a stronger application. This website allows me to write what needs to be written without sacrificing meaningful content to satisfy a character counter.

## Please Subscribe

One of the best features of the new website is the ability to subscribe.

What strings are attached? None.

Subscribing is completely free. Each new daily post will be delivered directly to your inbox each morning, complete with the full graphic and text.

You will not have to search for the post, hope Facebook shows it to you or wonder whether you missed something. It will simply arrive in your email.

You can unsubscribe at any time, but why would you ever want to do that?

Just kidding.

Mostly.

## New Topics

Do not worry. The daily devotionals are not going away. I plan to continue writing and sharing them regularly. The website simply gives me the opportunity to expand into some additional areas.

One new topic is called **After Amen**.

Pastors and ministry teams put a tremendous amount of prayer, study and preparation into a sermon series. Too often, valuable thoughts, illustrations and applications never make it onto the stage. Sometimes the sermon runs long. Sometimes something has to be cut. Sometimes I look at the clock and realize the children’s ministry workers have already earned additional jewels in their heavenly crowns.

**After Amen** will provide a summary of each sermon in a series, but I want it to be more than a recap. Think of it as a “What now?” resource.

Each post will include the actual sermon footage from the Sunday service, questions for personal reflection and discussion questions that can be used with a spouse, family, friend or small group.

A group could watch the message together, discuss the questions or use the material during the week to continue the conversation after Sunday morning.

I would also like to write more about marriage and family topics. Someday.

I have learned not to promise everything at once. Apparently, websites do not create additional hours in the day. That feels like an oversight.

## Tags and Searchable Content

The website also allows me to organize posts with tags.

This helps me keep track of previous content and it makes it much easier for you to find posts that interest you.

Now you can easily search for specific content without scrolling through months of social media posts and hoping the one you vaguely remember from six months ago suddenly reappears.

## Why the Content Will Remain Free

I have talked with several authors about the best way to build and sustain a writing platform. Without exception, they have encouraged me to place my daily writings behind a paywall and charge readers a monthly fee. That is probably good business advice, but it does not feel like the right fit for this mission.

I want **Chris Knight Writes** to be a place where anyone can find encouragement, practical help and spiritual truth without first reaching for a credit card. Life already comes with enough paid subscriptions. Most of us are still trying to remember which app streams the show we wanted to watch.

At the end of the day, mission matters more to me than money.

That does not mean the site is free to operate. I invest more than $600 annually in creating and maintaining **Chris Knight Writes**. Those expenses include website costs, publishing tools and other add-on services.

There is absolutely no pressure to give. The content will remain freely available.

I do believe there are people who believe in this project and may want to help offset some of the costs associated with it. Any support would be deeply appreciated and would help me continue sharing these resources with as many people as possible.

To contribute, simply click the **Donate** button on the website.

Thank you.
