Before you begin reading the Questions of Faith series, I want to offer a little context about what these posts are and what they are not.
I have served as a pastor for many years, but I do not consider myself an academic theologian or biblical scholar. Many faithful men and women are far more qualified than I am to write technical books, debate complex theological systems and use words that require both a dictionary and a strong cup of coffee.
My heart has always been pastoral and relational.
I love helping ordinary people, people like me, take their next step with Jesus. I enjoy opening God’s Word, asking honest questions and helping people understand how biblical truth applies to everyday life. My passion is disciple-making more than debate, application more than argument and helping people grow in a genuine relationship with Christ.
These posts are not intended to be the final word on every difficult theological question. They are my best attempt to respond to honest questions with humility, biblical conviction and a pastor’s heart. I will seek to represent Scripture faithfully while recognizing that sincere, Bible-believing Christians sometimes reach different conclusions on secondary issues. When that happens, I want to approach those differences with grace, honesty and respect.
I also want to make it clear that the views expressed in this series are my own. They should not be understood as official statements or positions of Wakarusa Missionary Church or the Missionary Church, Inc.
My prayer is simple. I hope these posts encourage you to think carefully, search the Scriptures, ask meaningful questions and continue growing in your love for Jesus. I do not expect every post to answer every question completely. Some questions are too deep for 500 words and a mildly amusing opening paragraph.
However, I hope each post helps you take one faithful step closer to Christ. If that happens, this series will have accomplished its purpose.
